Doug's Take

"I designed these jig heads to fish with the HyperChunk trailer. That combination — the micro skirted head with the HyperChunk behind it — is one of the deadliest finesse setups I've ever put in the water. The color-matched pack takes the guesswork out of it. Open the bag and everything you need is already coordinated. Tie it on and go fish."

The Bait

The Jigs and The Trailer. Built For Each Other.

The Doug's Custom Lures Color-Matched Finesse Micro Jig/Trailer Combo puts the full finesse setup in one pack. Two micro skirted jig heads — your choice of two 1/16 oz, two 1/8 oz, or one of each — paired with eight 3" HyperChunk trailers, all color-matched to fish together right out of the bag.

The micro jig heads were designed to fish with the HyperChunk trailer. The 3" craw profile is proportional to the micro head — not too big, not too small — and the HyperChunk's appendages generate claw action on the fall and pulse naturally on the slowest drag. Together they produce a tight, credible crayfish presentation that gets bit in clear water, over hard bottom, around docks, and on pressured fish that have seen everything else.

Eight trailers, two jig heads, one color family. Open the pack, tie one on, and go.

Built To Fish Together

The micro jig heads were designed around the HyperChunk trailer. The 3" craw profile is proportional to the micro head — the overall package looks like a small, real crayfish in clear water, not a pile of plastic. That proportional fit is what makes the combo work where other jig-and-trailer pairings look off.

Color-Matched Out of the Pack

The jig skirt and the HyperChunk trailers come from the same color family. No mixing and matching at the boat, no guessing whether the trailer looks right behind the skirt. Select your colorway, open the pack, and everything is already coordinated. Eight trailers to two jig heads is the right ratio — you'll go through trailers faster than jig heads.

Two Weights, Full Coverage

Select two 1/16 oz, two 1/8 oz, or one of each. The 1/16 oz fishes the slowest possible fall — shallow water, suspended fish, post-front conditions. The 1/8 oz reaches deeper structure and maintains bottom contact in light current. The mixed option covers both situations without retying, and the HyperChunk fishes correctly on either weight.

The HyperChunk Trailer

The 3" HyperChunk is a compact craw-profile chunk trailer with active appendages that generate movement on the fall and pulse on the slowest drag. It threads onto the hook shank cleanly behind the skirt and keeps the overall package tight and proportional. On the pause, the claws settle naturally — that resting position is when most bites come.

On-Water Notes
  • The combo is at its best in clear water over hard bottom. Rock, gravel, shell beds, and hard clay — drag it slowly and let the HyperChunk's claws work on the pause. That's the situation these two were designed for.
  • The bite usually comes on the pause or at the start of the next movement. Drag the jig a foot, stop completely, count to five. The skirt and the HyperChunk claws settle into a natural resting position — that's when fish commit.
  • Watch the line on the fall. With a micro head and a 3" craw behind it, the whole package falls slowly — fish will pick it up before it hits bottom. A tick, a jump, or the line going slack early is a bite.
  • The 1/8 oz with the HyperChunk is a strong walleye presentation on natural lakes with clear water and hard bottom. Slow drag, long pauses, natural-toned colorway. Keep the retrieve as slow as you think is too slow.
  • Skip the combo under docks on the 1/16 oz and let it fall completely on slack line before moving it. The compact head and proportional trailer enter tight spaces without reading as a threat — that's the finesse advantage in clear-water dock situations.
